Our Loan Product

Habitat for Humanity Kenya Housing Micro Finance Program targets the low income families and who wish to acquire decent and affordable housing solutions through its easy to pay micro mortgagees. The aim of the program is to ensure families are able to meet other household obligations while managing their loans.

The program is comprised of three main products namely:

  • Ujenzi kwa Hatua Loan ( Incremental Building Loan)
  • Boresha Makaazi Loan ( House Rehabilitation Loan)
  • Maji na Usafi Loan ( Water and Sanitation Loan)

Ujenzi kwa Hatua Loan –Incremental Building Loan.

This loan targets families who wish to construct their houses over time as more resources allow their pockets. The loan is given in two phases .i.e Foundation stage, Super structure stage and finishes/ fixtures stage.

The loan is designed specifically to ease the financial stress that a family may undergo and ensure that the family is able to build their house of choice over a period of time without necessarily avoiding other family obligations.

Loan amounts

1st loan ( Foundation Loan)                                                                         : Ksh 10,000-50,000.

2nd loan (Super structure & finishes & fixtures loan loan)                               : Ksh 10,000-100,000

Loan repayment period

Loans can be repaid between 6months -36 months depending on the family’s resources.

Boresha Makaazi Loan (Home Improvement Loan)

The loan is specifically designed for families who wish to improve their current house conditions. For instance families, whose houses have leaking roof, need painting, need plastering or new flooring works or expansion of the existing house.

Loan amounts

1st loan                                                                 : Ksh 10,000-40,000.

2nd loan & final                                                       : Ksh 10,000-80,000

Loan repayment period

Loans can be repaid between 6months -30months depending on the family’s resources.

Maji na Usafi Loan ( Water and Sanitation Loan)

The water and sanitation loan is given to families who wish to construct latrines or wish to buy water tanks for their household use. The loan also applies to those seeking to connect water to their homesteads or those who wish to construct septic tanks or sewer lines.

Loan amounts

1st loan                                                                  : Ksh 5,000-50,000.

2nd loan & final                                                       : Ksh upto 50,000

Loan repayment period

Loans can be repaid between 6months -36 months depending on the family’s resources.

Requirements for HFH Kenya HMF Loan

For a person to qualify for any of the aforementioned loan products, he/she must meet the following criteria:

  • He/She must be economically active and earning an average net income of Ksh 5,000-Ksh.35,000 per month
  • He/She must be committed to repay back the housing loan.
  • He/She must have documentary proof of land ownership on which the house will be built.
  • He/She must be an active member of a group not exceeding 30 people and not less than 15 people or be an active member of a registered Savings and Credit Organization ( SACCO)
  • He/She must be willing to comply with HFH Kenya lending regulations.
  • He/She must be adult Kenyan Citizen and of sound mind.
